We all know now that anyone of any gender can play and love videogames, but did you know the ‘90s brought with it cultural pockets of feminine tech and popularised the ‘cute’ aesthetic. Before the Tamagotchi, and the Furby, came countless videogames!
We want to gather together your thoughts and memories of the NVA in Nottingham, to create a final visitors book to remember it by. Favourite events, moments, workshops, projects, exhibits, pieces of toast - anything that sums up your experience of the place.
We have now released our Summer Program of Activities!!! This includes workshops and free activities covering a different theme each week. We kick off the holidays with RETRO WEEK. Followed by NINTENDO, MARVEL VS. STAR WARS, ANALOGUE and HARRY POTTER WEEK.
This Half-term the NVA galleries are open every day from the 25th May - 3rd June. We have extra drop in sessions running during the week for all gallery visitors that will get the whole family thinking differently about videogames. Take your first steps into programming, or learn about the work that goes into making a game.
This Easter Holidays we're powering on the NVA Galleries every day from the 29th March - 15th April. There are new rooms to discover, and we have put together an action packed schedule of educational workshops, kids clubs, and fun activities for all the family running throughout the entire Easter Holiday period.
The first All Your Bass videogame music festival took place last month, and what a debut it was. We were joined by legends of composition such as David Wise, Rob Hubbard and Masaya Matsuura, who all performed amongst a line-up of upcoming and established creatives and innovators.
If you visited us over the weekend of the 23rd - 25th February and had a go on our VR you will have had the chance to view the Virtual Scan Gallery! Part of Mixed Reality Storytelling, the project is dedicated to researching the digital footprints of interesting things.
In line with Nottingham City half term, we’re super excited to be open every day from the 16th - 25th of February. If you’re looking for things to keep the kids busy, we have an action packed schedule for families with children that covers the whole of half term!
From stag-dos to birthday parties, film screenings and videogame tournaments, to workshops and corporate away days, we've had a busy busy year hosting over 100 companies at The National Videogame Arcade and by our calculations, serving just under 1000 cups of tea and coffee!
